Mercedes-Benz Faces Potential US Sales Ban After Senate Moves, Report Says

Mercedes-Benz could face a potential ban on importing, producing, selling, and reselling vehicles in the United States after a US Senate commerce committee approved new legislation, according to reports. The draft would restrict automakers with more than 15% Chinese ownership. Mercedes has nearly 20% passive stakes held via Chinese entities, including BAIC and founder Li Shufu. The bill would still need full Senate approval, and Mercedes says no single shareholder holds more than 10% and that major shareholders lack operational control.
