A senior Iranian official told Reuters that mediators were working to prevent further escalation while armed forces respond to what Iran calls American aggression. The proposed pause is intended to reopen a pathway for diplomacy and restart efforts around the framework agreed previously, including steps toward a longer-term arrangement.
