Germany’s foreign intelligence chief, Martin Jaeger, has warned lawmakers that Russia’s escalating shadow war could draw the country into violent conflict. He cited sabotage, cyberattacks, espionage, and drone incidents as evidence that Moscow’s campaign against European democracies is becoming more aggressive. Jaeger said Germany remains an obstacle to Russia’s ambitions in Europe and a target of retaliation. Berlin has accused Moscow of plotting an attempted drone attack at Leipzig airport, while Russia denies plans to attack Germany or NATO members.
