SAN BRUNO, Calif— YouTube has introduced a new payment option that allows eligible U.S. content creators to receive earnings in stablecoins through PayPal.
The feature is part of YouTube’s ongoing efforts to expand monetization tools and offer creators more flexibility in how they receive revenue. Under the new option, creators who qualify can elect to have their payout disbursed in a designated stablecoin, with transfers processed through their linked PayPal accounts.
YouTube officials said the rollout aims to meet diversifying payment preferences among digital creators and to support adoption of blockchain-related financial services within the platform’s ecosystem. Eligible creators will see the stablecoin payout option appear alongside existing payment methods in their account settings.
PayPal will facilitate stablecoin distribution and custody for participating creators, with conversions and transfers subject to the platform’s terms and compliance requirements. The move is seen as part of broader trends among major tech platforms to integrate digital asset-based payments into mainstream services.
Industry observers say the introduction of stablecoin payouts could appeal to creators seeking alternative settlement methods or exposure to digital asset infrastructure, while YouTube gains a competitive edge in creator monetization offerings.
YouTube plans to monitor adoption and feedback as usage of the new payout option grows in the U.S. market.
