U.S. military plans for possible renewed strikes on Iran could include the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb, known as the MOAB, according to U.S. officials cited by CNN. The 21,600-pound weapon could be considered for targets including Pickaxe Mountain, where Washington and Israel believe parts of Iran’s nuclear program are stored. Officials have questioned whether the bomb can penetrate deeply enough to destroy underground facilities. Its large blast radius could also endanger civilians if used near populated areas. No decision to resume combat has been announced.
