Two paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir stolen from the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer have been recovered, and six people arrested, local authorities said Friday. The works are Portrait of Madame Colonna Romano and Young Woman at the Well. Thieves broke into the museum last month, taking four paintings before abandoning two as they fled. Investigators did not disclose how they found the remaining works or tracked down the suspects. Mayor Bryan Masson welcomed the recovery, calling the paintings part of the town’s history and heritage.
