Sweden and Finland have signed a letter of intent to deepen cooperation on rocket artillery, as Sweden prepares to purchase the American HIMARS system for approximately seven billion kronor. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027. The agreement is intended to improve coordination, interoperability and regional defense planning between the Nordic neighbors. The purchase would strengthen Sweden’s long-range firepower and support broader efforts to build compatible capabilities across Northern Europe amid heightened security concerns and a changing strategic environment for both.
