Singapore Overtakes Kuala Lumpur as World’s Most Polluted City Amid Regional Haze

Singapore ranked as the world’s most polluted major city on October 7, recording an Air Quality Index of 211, in the “Very Unhealthy” range, according to IQAir’s live ranking. Kuala Lumpur stood second, with an AQI of 194. The rankings can shift as pollution and weather patterns change. Haze has blanketed parts of Southeast Asia, with smoke from fires on Indonesia’s Sumatra and Borneo islands contributing to poor air quality. Health advice includes limiting strenuous outdoor activity and using a well-fitting respirator when outdoors.
