Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić conceded defeat on Sunday after his Serbian Progressive Party lost to the student-led Students’ List in snap parliamentary elections. Vučić said preliminary projections showed the movement winning between 135 and 140 seats in the 250-member assembly, while his party was projected to take about 105. Nearly 70% of voters turned out, according to reports. The movement grew from protests sparked by a deadly Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse in 2024, which killed 16 people and fueled anger over corruption and accountability.
