Britain Will Not Join Canada’s Defence Bank, Source Says

The UK government is not planning to join Canada’s Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB), according to a parliamentary letter and previous government statements. Instead, it is pursuing the Multilateral Defence Mechanism (MDM) with Finland and the Netherlands, focused on joint procurement and sovereign lending. The DSRB aims to improve defence-sector financing, including for small businesses. A parliamentary committee has argued the two initiatives could complement one another and urged the government to reconsider its position. The government has not publicly announced a decision to join.
