Pakistan says it is ready to fulfil its obligations under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement after Saudi Arabia intercepted a Houthi drone near Mecca. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said the pact provides for mutual support if a member’s territory or borders are attacked. The agreement, signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye, resembles NATO’s collective-defence principle. Islamabad has backed Riyadh while urging restraint, dialogue, and efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading across the wider region and key waterways.
