Mayflower Joins Cabot, Pea Ridge in Stopping Use of Flock License Plate Readers

Mayflower announced it will stop using Flock Safety license plate reader cameras, citing concerns that the technology is “intrusive in nature” and compromises liberties for law-abiding residents. The decision follows similar moves by Pea Ridge, which ended use earlier, and Cabot, which suspended its contract more recently. In Mayflower’s statement, police leaders said they will not rely on tactics they believe infringe on citizen rights, while also noting the broader dispute over whether such systems help solve crimes versus create ongoing surveillance.
