International Criminal Court Shortlisted for 2026 Sakharov Prize

The International Criminal Court has been shortlisted for the European Parliament’s 2026 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, an award recognizing contributions to human rights and democracy. It is one of three finalists, alongside Tanzanian opposition leader Tundu Lissu and Iranian sisters Taraneh and Romina Rahimi. The European Parliament was expected to choose the laureate later this week, with the award ceremony scheduled for December. The nomination comes amid U.S. sanctions against the court and calls from European lawmakers to protect its work and officials.
