Greece has ruled out seeking Turkish permission for seabed surveys linked to the Great Sea Interconnector, a planned power cable connecting Cyprus and Crete. Athens says the project can proceed under international law and rejects Ankara’s claims over parts of the route. Turkey insists that research and cable work in what it considers its continental shelf must be coordinated with Ankara. About 60% of required surveys are complete, while the remaining work could reignite tensions between the NATO members again.
