Brazilian Students in Rio March Against Prospect of Another Bolsonaro Presidency

Thousands of students and other demonstrators marched through downtown Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, October 7, protesting the prospect of Flávio Bolsonaro becoming president. The far-right candidate, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, finished first in Sunday’s election and will face a runoff. Marchers wore stickers reading “Never Again Bolsonaro” and “No to the father, no to the son.” The demonstration reflected concern among opponents about the far right’s renewed strength, as Brazil heads toward a closely watched second round of voting
