Chinese Memory Firm CXMT Allegedly Used Leaked Samsung Technology to Cut Years of R&D

ChangXin Memory Technologies, China’s largest DRAM producer, allegedly relied on leaked Samsung technology to shorten years of research and development, according to testimony in a South Korean court. Former Samsung engineer Jeon said CXMT executives sought a confidential Process Recipe Plan containing about 600 manufacturing steps. Prosecutors allege the company recruited former Samsung employees and adapted the technology for Chinese production equipment. Jeon was sentenced to seven years in prison in April. CXMT’s alleged use of Samsung’s intellectual property could lead to further trade-secret claims and possible action before U.S. regulators
