Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to waive key Russia-related sanctions and tariffs, calling the move a mistake that could encourage Vladimir Putin to continue the war. Trump said the waiver was in the U.S. national interest. Zelensky argued that the sanctions could have applied meaningful pressure on Moscow and warned that easing economic restrictions would not stop Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The waived measures were due to take effect shortly under the new law.
