Audi plans to invest $4bn in its first US factory, in Macon, Georgia, as parent company Volkswagen faces job cuts and factory closures in Germany. The plant is expected to produce 200,000 SUVs annually and create about 4,500 jobs. Audi says it will build the Q7, Q8 and Q9 models there, with some production shifting from Slovakia. Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with production expected in the early 2030s. Volkswagen has cited tariffs, competition from Chinese automakers and costly investment in electric vehicles.
