Hundreds of French supermarkets were hit by a cyberattack that disrupted refrigeration systems and spoiled fresh and frozen food. Hackers remotely altered temperature controls, reportedly forcing some units to heat to 50°C overnight. More than 100 Coopérative U stores and at least 300 Intermarché and Netto locations were affected, with other chains also reporting incidents. The affected software came from Danish engineering firm Danfoss, which said older units could not receive security updates. French prosecutors opened a cybercrime investigation; the attack’s full scope and perpetrators remain unclear.
