UK Anti-Terror Referrals Surge Over “Extreme Right-Wing” Ideology, Home Office Says

The UK Home Office says referrals to the Prevent anti-terrorism programme in England and Wales hit record levels, rising sharply year over year. Officials attribute much of the increase to concerns about “extreme right-wing” ideology, which accounted for the largest share of referrals for the year measured. Prevent referrals are aimed at early intervention and safeguarding, not automatically criminal prosecution.
