Tragedy on the Highway: 3 Dead, 64 Injured in Devastating Dabaa Bus-Truck Collision

A horrific traffic accident along the international coastal road near El Dabaa, Matrouh Governorate, has left three people dead and 64 others injured following a violent collision between a passenger bus and a heavy transport truck.

The disaster occurred during the early morning hours when a packed passenger bus collided with a heavy cargo truck traveling along the high-speed corridor. The force of the impact completely crushed the front section of the bus, trapping several passengers within the twisted wreckage. Eyewitnesses and passing motorists immediately pulled over to render initial assistance before emergency crews arrived on scene.

The Ministry of Health and Population deployed dozens of ambulances to the site of the crash to triage and transport the victims. Emergency responders worked tirelessly to extract trapped passengers using hydraulic cutting equipment.

The deceased and injured were rushed to nearby medical facilities, including El Dabaa Central Hospital and Matrouh General Hospital. Medical teams were placed on high alert to handle the sudden influx of victims suffering from severe fractures, head trauma, and internal injuries.

Security forces quickly secured the area, clearing debris and redirecting traffic to prevent secondary accidents on the busy highway.

Preliminary investigations suggest that high speeds combined with limited visibility or sudden lane changes may have contributed to the fatal crash. Prosecution authorities have initiated a formal inquiry to inspect the vehicles, analyze road conditions, and determine official accountability for the collision.

In response to the tragedy, local authorities and highway safety officials have announced plans to increase traffic patrols and install additional speed monitoring cameras along the El Dabaa coastal stretch. Governor of Matrouh issued directives to streamline medical assistance and ensure all necessary support, including financial relief and emergency care, is provided to the victims' families. Public health officials confirmed that specialized surgical teams have been brought in from neighboring governorates to assist with critical cases, as calls grow for stricter enforcement of heavy transport regulations on major national transit routes.
