Tragedy in Haryana: Two Schoolgirls Killed After Speeding Truck Collides with Two-Wheeler in Kaithal

KAITHAL, India — A devastating road accident claimed the lives of two young schoolgirls on Thursday morning, September 3, 2026 in the Siwan area of Haryana’s Kaithal district. The victims, identified as Navneet Kaur and Gundeep Kaur, were riding a scooter on their way to school when an out-of-control truck struck them on the main road near Siwan market, causing immediate fatal injuries.

The incident occurred around 8:00 AM as the girls traveled from their native village of Mandi Sadra toward the Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Siwan town. Navneet, a Class 10 student, was operating the two-wheeler with Gundeep, a Class 9 student, riding as a passenger.

Eyewitnesses reported that a heavy-duty commercial truck, traveling at high speed along the busy market corridor, lost control and rammed directly into the scooter. The severe impact crushed the vehicle, killing both students instantly at the scene before onlookers could intervene or call for medical assistance.

Immediately following the collision, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle abandoned further down the road. News of the fatal crash spread rapidly through the neighboring villages, drawing hundreds of agitated residents and grieving family members to the site.

Protesters briefly gathered along the arterial road to demand stricter traffic enforcement, speed limits in school zones, and the swift arrest of the absconding driver. Local authorities arrived shortly after to de-escalate the tension and secure the area for initial forensic documentation.

Police officials from the Siwan station confirmed that the bodies of both victims have been taken to the Kaithal Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations before being returned to their families.

Law enforcement teams have launched a formal search operation for the driver, seizing the involved truck and reviewing footage from surveillance cameras along the main market route to trace the driver's escape path. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) covering rash driving and causing death by negligence.
