Tour Bus from Singapore Overturns in Malaysia to Avoid Lorry; 3 Hospitalized

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — A routine cross-border journey turned dangerous when a tour bus traveling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur overturned along a major Malaysian highway, leaving three passengers hospitalized, including a 62-year-old Singaporean national.

The accident occurred when the bus driver was forced to take sudden evasive action after a lorry unexpectedly cut into the vehicle's path. In a desperate attempt to avert a head-on collision, the driver swerved sharply, causing the heavy passenger bus to lose traction and flip onto its side along the road embankment. Emergency services, highway police, and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly after receiving distress calls from motorists passing the crash site.

First responders worked quickly to extricate passengers from the overturned coach. While several travelers sustained minor cuts and bruises that were treated at the scene, three individuals required urgent transport to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment. Among those hospitalized is a 62-year-old Singaporean passenger who sustained moderate injuries during the rollover.

Local traffic police have initiated an investigation into the crash to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the evasive maneuver. Authorities are actively seeking information regarding the lorry involved, as investigators review highway surveillance footage and gather witness statements to assess driver speeds and road conditions at the time of the incident.

The tour operator released a statement confirming that replacement transport was arranged for the remaining uninjured passengers to complete their journey to Kuala Lumpur. Representatives from the company are currently assisting affected travelers with medical claims, travel adjustments, and coordination with local authorities at the hospital.

Transport safety advocates have reiterated calls for stricter monitoring of heavy commercial vehicles along high-volume cross-border expressways. Following the crash, highway traffic police announced plans to step up patrols and targeted speed-enforcement checkpoints to minimize reckless lane changes and protect long-distance passenger coaches.
