KARACHI — What should have been a routine end to the school day turned into a devastating nightmare on Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2026, when a speeding Mazda truck struck a motorcycle in Karachi’s North Nazimabad area, killing a 16-year-old student on the spot and leaving his classmate critically injured.
The tragedy unfolded near the Shinwari Restaurant in North Nazimabad Block I shortly after dismissal bells rang at a local private school. According to initial reports from law enforcement and rescue personnel, two young schoolmates—identified by Chhipa rescue officials as 16-year-old Huzaifa and 15-year-old Hamza—were heading home together on a single motorcycle when the heavy commercial vehicle collided with them.
Eyewitnesses described a chilling scene as the truck rammed into the teenagers' bike. The impact threw both boys off the motorcycle onto the pavement. Emergency medical responders from the Chhipa welfare service rushed to the crash site alongside local police units. Rescuers pronounced Huzaifa dead at the scene due to fatal head and body injuries. Hamza, who sustained severe multiple injuries, was stabilized on-site before being rushed to a nearby medical facility for emergency surgery.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Sir Syed Police Station, Iftikhar Tanoli, confirmed that the teenagers were returning home directly from school when the accident occurred. Following the collision, police swiftly impounded the commercial Mazda truck and took the driver, identified as Rawal Hussain, into custody. Authorities have initiated a formal investigation to determine whether speeding, reckless driving, or a mechanical failure contributed to the fatal crash.
"We have secured the vehicle and detained the driver," SHO Tanoli stated. "Legal proceedings and a detailed reconstruction of the incident are currently underway to hold those responsible accountable."
News of the crash sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, drawing grief-stricken relatives, fellow classmates, and concerned local residents to the scene and hospital. The incident has reignited fierce public debate surrounding the unchecked movement of heavy commercial vehicles through congested urban neighborhood lanes during school dismissals.
Residents of North Nazimabad have repeatedly voiced concerns regarding reckless driving and over-speeding by commercial truck drivers along school routes, calling on city officials and traffic enforcement agencies to implement strict speed limits and heavy-vehicle curfews during peak school hours. As the community mourns the loss of a young life cut short, local authorities are urging drivers across the metropolis to exercise heightened caution around school zones and residential corridors.
