Brazil’s COP30 presidency presented a global roadmap on transitioning away from fossil fuels on November 3, describing the shift as urgent, inevitable and achievable. The document offers countries a framework for assessing their exposure to fossil fuels and capacity to manage change across energy demand, energy supply and the broader economy. It also proposes coordinated action through 2033. The roadmap was developed through international consultations and is voluntary and non-prescriptive; it does not impose binding obligations or prescribe a single pathway for every country.
