Targeted Blast in Imphal: 3 CRPF Personnel Injured in Explosion Near Police Station

IMPHAL, India — A powerful blast occurred near the Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district, injuring three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and triggering immediate security lockdowns across the capital region.

The explosion occurred adjacent to a security perimeter near the Singjamei Police Station. Preliminary reports indicate that unidentified miscreants targeted the area using an improvised explosive device (IED) or grenade while security forces were maintaining routine vigilance in the locality.

The sudden blast rattled nearby structures and sent shrapnel flying, causing injuries to three CRPF personnel stationed in the vicinity. Emergency response teams immediately cordoned off the site, and the injured personnel were rushed to a regional hospital for medical attention, where their conditions are currently reported as stable.

In the immediate aftermath of the attack, joint security forces—comprising Manipur Police, CRPF, and forensic bomb disposal units—converged on the blast site. The entire zone was isolated to collect evidence, analyze explosive residue, and inspect potential escape routes used by the perpetrators.

Security operations have been intensified across Imphal West district, with additional checkposts erected and vehicle frisking underway at major intersections. Senior police officials confirmed that an investigation has been launched to identify those responsible and determine whether any active insurgent outfits were involved in planning the strike.

Local authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm while reporting any suspicious activity or unattended packages to the nearest police post. No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the detonation, but security personnel remain on high alert across the capital district to prevent follow-up incidents.

In response to the escalating security concerns, district administration officials have convened emergency meetings with civil society representatives and community leaders to promote public cooperation and reinforce neighborhood vigilance programs. Authorities have also announced enhanced patrolling schedules and intelligence-sharing measures with neighboring districts to curtail the movement of subversive elements and ensure the long-term safety of residents.
