Swiss to Vote on Loosening Arms-Export Restrictions

Switzerland will hold a nationwide vote on November 29 on changes to its War Materiel Act. The proposal would make it easier to export weapons to certain partner countries, including those involved in armed conflicts, and relax some restrictions on re-exporting Swiss-made equipment. Opponents warn the reform could weaken controls, increase the risk of weapons reaching conflict zones, and undermine Switzerland’s neutrality
