Chinese peacekeepers deployed equipment to detect and jam drones in Abyei after an October 19 attack on a market killed UN peacekeepers on duty. China’s Ministry of National Defence said the deployment followed a request from UNISFA to reinforce a Pakistani infantry battalion. The force also used surveillance drones to monitor the area and protect civilians and security personnel. After the situation stabilised, the Chinese force returned to its camp. UNISFA praised the response, saying it helped protect lives and property.
