The Spanish government has "strongly" condemned the massive attacks launched against Lebanon, urging all parties to comply with Security Council Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement established in November 2024. These airstrikes, initiated by Israel, have resulted in over 200 casualties, including numerous civilians.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spain extended its condolences and solidarity to the victims' families as the toll continues to rise. The government called upon Israel to meet its obligations under international law and stressed the necessity for all involved to respect the established ceasefire and UN mandates.
Moreover, the Spanish government reaffirmed its support for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), demanding that Israel respect the peacekeeping forces present in the area, including the Spanish contingent. Spain reiterated its commitments to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon and expressed its support for measures aimed at ensuring the state’s control over weapons throughout its territory.
The urgency of de-escalating tensions and upholding international agreements was heavily emphasized, as the situation in Lebanon remains critical amid ongoing violence and instability following the recent conflict escalation.
