Spain has selected the Airbus A321 as the platform for a new electronic-intelligence aircraft designed to collect signals, monitor activity, and support national and allied operations. The conversion will adapt a commercial airliner for specialized sensors, secure communications, and mission equipment, giving the Spanish military greater range and endurance than smaller platforms. The project is expected to strengthen Spain’s intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities while supporting domestic aerospace expertise. Further details on cost, delivery dates, and final systems remain limited.
