South Korea to relocate about 10,000 government jobs to Sejong from Seoul by 2031

South Korea will move 44 government agencies and 9,929 employees from the Seoul area to Sejong between 2027 and 2031, the interior ministry announced. Twenty-seven agencies, covering 2,995 jobs, are scheduled to move in 2027 into leased offices. Seventeen other agencies need dedicated facilities and will relocate after facilities are built. They include the foreign, unification and defense ministries. The plan aims to reduce the concentration of population, businesses and infrastructure in the capital region and support areas facing population decline.
