Russia Reportedly Targets Europe’s Defense Executives in Assassination Plots

Officials from five European intelligence services told the Financial Times that Russia is expanding sabotage operations and targeting executives and senior employees at defense companies. Smaller firms producing drones and components may also be at risk. Intelligence sources said some plots have been disrupted, while suspicious surveillance has been reported near potential targets’ homes and workplaces. Germany’s domestic intelligence agency has increased contact with defense companies and advised some executives to consider private security. Officials say the campaign may aim chiefly to frighten businesses away from supporting Ukraine.
