September 23, 2025 – Ripple, a global leader in digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions, and Securitize, the top platform for tokenizing real-world assets, announced a new smart contract that enables holders of BlackRock’s BUIDL and VanEck’s VBILL to exchange their tokenized fund shares directly for Ripple USD (RLUSD). This integration provides a seamless stablecoin off-ramp for tokenized short-term U.S. Treasury funds.
BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) and VanEck’s Treasury Fund, Ltd. (VBILL) are the first tokenized funds from both firms to be issued on public blockchains. Through this smart contract, investors can instantly convert their shares into RLUSD around the clock, maintaining on-chain yield exposure while gaining access to stable, liquid transfers and broader DeFi strategies. RLUSD redemptions for BUIDL are live today, with VBILL support launching shortly.
“Expanding RLUSD as an option for tokenized funds is a natural progression in bridging traditional finance with crypto,” said Jack McDonald, SVP of Stablecoins at Ripple. “RLUSD was built for institutional use, offering stability, compliance, and real utility. As adoption grows, partnerships with trusted leaders like Securitize are key to unlocking liquidity and enterprise-grade use cases.”
RLUSD is Ripple’s enterprise-focused stablecoin, fully backed 1:1 by high-quality liquid assets, with strict reserve management, segregation, and third-party attestations. Issued under a New York DFS Trust Company Charter, it is designed to meet institutional and regulatory standards. Since its launch in late 2024, RLUSD has surpassed $700 million in market cap, becoming a trusted tool in DeFi liquidity pools, Ripple’s cross-border payment solutions, and institutional on/off-ramps.
This initiative also marks the first integration of RLUSD into Securitize’s platform. Looking ahead, Securitize plans to expand RLUSD’s utility across new asset classes and is integrating with the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to further extend access.
“By integrating RLUSD, we’re delivering real-time settlement and programmable liquidity for tokenized assets,” said Carlos Domingo, Co-Founder and CEO of Securitize. “Together with Ripple, we’re unlocking a new generation of compliant, on-chain investment products that bring the power of blockchain to institutional finance.”
