Refugees and migrants have described alleged beatings and mistreatment at a detention center in Bulgaria, calling the violence “merciless.” Their accounts raise concerns about conditions, staff conduct, and oversight within the facility. Witnesses reportedly described repeated assaults, intimidation, and limited access to assistance or independent complaints procedures. Authorities are expected to investigate the allegations, review security footage, and assess whether personnel violated national or international protections. Rights organizations are urging transparency, accountability, and safeguards for people held in immigration detention.
