Oldham Surgeon Struck Off After Wrongly Connecting Patient’s Organs Left Him in “Uncontrollable Pain”

An NHS locum surgeon from Royal Oldham Hospital, Dr Yasser Adly Abdel Rahman, has been struck off after a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing found he wrongly connected a patient’s organs during emergency bowel surgery. The procedure created a “closed loop” that redirected bowel contents back into the stomach, leaving the patient in “uncontrollable pain.” A second operation was needed to correct the error, with the tribunal told it was “not compatible with life.” The tribunal also cited serious failings in post-operative care and compliance issues
