New York has joined legal action challenging the Trump administration’s forced-labor tariffs, according to reports. The lawsuit argues the tariffs were imposed without the specific, country-by-country findings required under U.S. trade law, and that they effectively go beyond the president’s authority. The case is being filed in federal trade court. Other businesses and state officials have also sought to block or overturn similar tariff measures, arguing they were designed in a broad, less targeted way than the law permits.
