Elon Musk welcomed German Transport Minister Steffen Bilger’s support for Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system in Europe. Bilger said Germany would advocate for EU approval after discussions with Tesla on technical and liability issues. The system is driver assistance, not autonomous driving, and Tesla has offered to rename it “Tesla Assisted Driving.” Germany also supports allowing the software to exceed posted speed limits by up to 10%, a proposal opposed by safety advocates. An EU vote, delayed while countries conduct further testing, is expected no earlier than December
