NOIDA, India — A major fire tore through a cluster of temporary eateries and food outlets in Noida's Sector 125 on Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2026, leaving one person dead and destroying multiple shops.
The incident occurred in the Raipur village area under the jurisdiction of the Sector 126 Police Station. The fire reportedly started at a local food point before rapidly spreading across at least five adjoining tea and snack shops, causing thick black smoke to billow into the air and triggering widespread panic among nearby crowds and customers.
Witnesses reported hearing the sounds of LPG cylinders exploding as the intense heat ignited fuel sources stored inside the makeshift structures.
Emergency response teams were alerted around Saturday afternoon. A deployment of 12 fire tenders and personnel from the Sector 126 Police Station responded to the site. Firefighters evacuated the surrounding area and utilized six fire tenders to battle and bring the blaze under control.
During dousing operations, emergency personnel discovered an unconscious victim within the burned structures. The individual was rushed immediately to a nearby hospital, where attending doctors declared him dead. Authorities have not yet publicly released the identity of the deceased.
Noida Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar confirmed that teams encountered a significant number of commercial LPG cylinders inside the gutted outlets, necessitating careful search and rescue operations to ensure no other individuals remained trapped.
Senior officers from the Gautam Budh Nagar Police Commissionerate remained present on site to oversee safety measures and traffic management. While preliminary assessments suspect an electrical short circuit may have sparked the initial flames, official investigations are currently underway to determine the precise cause of the disaster and assess the full extent of the property damage.
The tragic incident has renewed widespread public concern regarding commercial fire safety protocols and the unregulated storage of pressurized gas cylinders in dense market zones. Municipal authorities are facing growing calls from local residents and commercial associations to enforce stricter safety audits, conduct mandatory fire compliance inspections, and implement preventive safety measures across temporary commercial structures throughout the region.
