Kerala Car Fire: Elderly Man Burnt to Death After Collision with Compound Wall

Kozhikode, India—An elderly motorist burned to death early Wednesday morning after his vehicle slammed into a roadside compound wall and burst into intense flames. The victim, identified as sixty-five-year-old C P Sudhakaran, was trapped inside the cabin as automatic door locks jammed upon impact. The fatal incident occurred at approximately four in the morning near Madathil Mukku in the Chevayur neighborhood.

Preliminary inquiries indicate the driver was heading toward Koyilandy for an early business meeting when he negotiated a steep downhill slope. The car drifted off trajectory, clipped a roadside power transformer structure, and crashed directly into the barrier. Local residents reported hearing a deafening crash followed by rapid ignition of the engine compartment.

Flames engulfed the entire chassis within minutes, preventing neighbors from executing a manual rescue. Fire and Rescue Services units dispatched from the medical college sector arrived to douse the inferno. Firefighters spent considerable time cutting open the charred metal frame to retrieve the remains.

Police cordoned off the stretch as forensic teams collected material samples from the burnt-out shell. Investigators noted that the vehicle continued burning intensely for nearly a quarter of an hour before suppression. Officials stated all potential angles, including mechanical failure or a sudden health emergency behind the wheel, remain open.

Local residents expressed longstanding frustration regarding safety conditions along the downhill stretch. Neighborhood committees have repeatedly petitioned municipal bodies for speedbreakers or reinforced guardrails on the slope.

The victim's body was transferred to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital for a formal postmortem examination. Detectives continue analyzing surrounding security camera footage to map the vehicle's final moments before the crash.
