Israel’s Supreme Court unanimously overturned the Central Elections Committee’s decision to bar the Arab-majority Joint List and Ra’am from the October 27 parliamentary election. The court found that the evidence did not meet the legal threshold for disqualification over alleged racism or support for armed conflict. It also ruled 7-2 that Joint List lawmaker Ofer Cassif could run. Balad leader Sami Abou Shahadeh, however, withdrew before the ruling after judges indicated he would likely remain barred, pending further legal review.
