Israel Charges Settler With Killing Palestinian Activist in Rare Indictment

Israeli prosecutors charged settler Yinon Levi with reckless manslaughter for the killing of Palestinian activist Owdeh (Awdah) Hathaleen in the occupied West Bank, in what rights groups call a rare case. The indictment says Levi fired during a confrontation in July 2025 in Umm al-Khair, where residents reported settler violence involving an excavator. Prosecutors also accused him of armed trespassing and malicious property damage. Levi was not arrested immediately and said he will contest the charges.
