Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Paused Refinery Strikes, but Russia Ignored Trump’s Energy Truce

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine had refrained from attacking Russian oil refineries and other energy facilities for two days after U.S. President Donald Trump announced an energy ceasefire. Zelenskyy accused Russia of ignoring the proposal, saying Russian forces continued striking Ukrainian energy sites and critical infrastructure. Nineteen Ukrainian regions came under attack during the period, according to his account. Trump announced the purported truce on October 11, but Moscow had not confirmed an agreement. Zelenskyy said Kyiv was ready for reciprocal de-escalation if Russia stopped its attacks.
