A Kurdish dissident group, the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), claims Iran used munitions containing white phosphorus in a drone attack on one of its bases in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. PAK says its assessment is based on eyewitness accounts, medical examinations of nine wounded Peshmerga fighters, and the extensive fires that erupted at the targeted site. The group calls the alleged use a violation of international humanitarian law and urges the UN and ICRC to conduct an independent investigation.
