India’s “cockroach” activist Sonam Wangchuk ended a 26-day hunger strike on Friday after lengthy negotiations and assurances aimed at preventing violence. The fast came in solidarity with youth-led protests demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign over alleged leaked medical entrance exam papers and cheating linked to the NEET controversy. Wangchuk said he broke his fast at the urging of lawmakers and in the presence of federal ministers, promising further details soon. Even after his announcement, rallies across Delhi and other cities continued.
