GUANGZHOU, China— Hyundai Motor has secured a 224-unit hydrogen bus supply contract from Guangzhou authorities, marking a significant expansion of the company’s green public transportation initiatives in China.
The deal includes delivery and deployment of the buses to support citywide efforts to reduce emissions and promote sustainable mobility. Hyundai’s hydrogen buses leverage fuel cell technology, providing a zero-emission alternative for urban transit fleets.
Officials in Guangzhou noted that the contract aligns with the city’s broader plan to transition its public transportation network toward cleaner energy sources. Hyundai expects the deployment to improve service capacity while reducing environmental impact.
