Huge Inferno Rages at Wildberries Logistics Hub in Samara Oblast Following Mass Ukrainian Drone Strike

NOVOSEMEYKINO, RUSSIA — A massive fire has engulfed a critical Wildberries logistics complex in Russia's Samara region after the facility came under a targeted drone attack. The strike is part of a widening, systematic air campaign aimed at disrupting large-scale economic and supply networks deep inside Russian territory.

Eyewitnesses in the settlement of Novosemeykino reported hearing a succession of loud explosions early on Sunday morning, August 2, 2026 followed by a plume of thick, black smoke rising over the industrial park. The hit triggered a fast-moving inferno across the facility, which spans roughly 178,600 square meters and serves as the primary sorting and distribution artery for the entire Volga region.

The attack was reportedly executed using Ukrainian FP-1 drones. Ukrainian military officials and open-source intelligence analysts have highlighted the marketplace's facilities as legitimate economic and logistical targets. The platform has been accused of serving as a parallel procurement pipeline utilized to deliver dual-use items, such as tactical radios, body armor, and drone components, directly to Russian forces.

Wildberries, often described as Russia's homegrown equivalent to Amazon, acknowledged the incident in an official statement. The e-commerce giant confirmed that the logistics facility was actively burning but noted that emergency protocols had allowed for a full evacuation. Preliminary reports from both the company and Samara Regional Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev indicate there are no civilian casualties on-site.

The physical destruction at the Novosemeykino complex has forced Wildberries to urgently restructure its shipping operations across central European Russia. Cargo traffic, order sorting, and incoming shipments originally routed through the Samara hub are being redirected to alternative regional warehouses to prevent a total collapse of consumer supply chains.

This strike marks at least the twelfth Wildberries infrastructure asset targeted by long-range drones since mid-July. Military experts suggest that the compounding damage to these mega-warehouses—previously estimated by international intelligence to be in the billions of dollars—is successfully driving up the domestic costs of logistics and straining the Kremlin's wartime internal economy. Local emergency services remain deployed at the site, struggling to fully contain the blaze amid tight military restrictions on airspace and media reporting in the area.
