How the Deadly A66 Crash Unfolded, Leaving Seven People Dead

The crash happened near Middlesbrough at about 03:39 BST on Saturday. Police had pursued a Volkswagen Passat for almost seven minutes after reports of dangerous driving and cloned registration plates. Officers abandoned the pursuit when the Passat entered the A66 traveling in the wrong direction. About 10 seconds later, it collided with a marked police vehicle traveling correctly.
