Chicago, United States— Two people were killed and four wounded Saturday in an early-morning drive-by shootout outside a nightclub on Chicago’s West Side.
The shooting happened at 2:47 a.m. on October 25, 2026 outside a club on West Division Street in the Humboldt Park area. Closing time had just passed. A crowd was still on the sidewalk and in the street. A dark sedan rolled past and occupants opened fire with at least two weapons.
Chicago Police Department said the gunfire lasted less than ten seconds. More than 30 shell casings were recovered, including rifle rounds. Two men, aged 24 and 27, were struck in the chest and head. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Four others — two men and two women, ranging from 21 to 29 — were hit in legs and torso. They were taken to Stroger and Mount Sinai hospitals. One was listed in critical condition with abdominal wounds. The others were stabilized.
The car fled westbound on Division. Patrol units chased it for two blocks before losing it in an alley. No arrests have been made. Detectives believe the attack was targeted, possibly tied to a dispute inside the club earlier that night.
"We have video showing an argument near the entrance about 1:30 a.m. Security pushed two men out," a district commander told reporters outside the taped-off block. "We are pulling all camera footage from the club and surrounding businesses."
Chicago Tribune reported that the club had been cited twice this year for after-hours crowding and lacked licensed security at the door Saturday. The city’s licensing department said it would review the venue’s permit.
Witnesses described chaos. People dropped behind parked cars. One bouncer dragged a wounded woman inside the vestibule. Blood stained the sidewalk for half a block.
The intersection remained closed until 10 a.m. while the forensic team mapped trajectories. Families of the dead arrived at the hospital before dawn.
Detectives are asking for dashcam video from drivers who were on Division between 2:30 and 3:00 a.m.
