Gaming on the Go: How Belkin Reimagines Portable Power for Switch 2

There’s a quiet revolution in the way we power our portable gaming gear — one that doesn’t arrive with flashy lights or booming keynote speeches, but through thoughtful design and everyday convenience. At CES 2026, Belkin unveiled a new accessory for Nintendo’s Switch 2 that exemplifies this shift: a charging case that lets you top up the battery without ever opening the case. For gamers who carry their console everywhere from commuter trains to cafés, that small adjustment feels almost like a thoughtful handshake between hardware and lifestyle.

For many Switch 2 owners, a portable case is more than just protection — it’s a lifeline for extended play away from home. Belkin’s latest model, the Charging Case Pro, retains a 10,000 mAh internal battery capable of delivering up to 30 W of fast charging, enough for multiple console charges on the go. What’s new this year is convenience: instead of unzipping the case and accessing an internal port as in earlier versions, you simply plug a USB-C cable into a port on the outside of the case to recharge the internal battery, even with your Switch snug inside.

This small but impactful design change solves a frustration many portable gamers know well — juggling cables and devices in confined spaces like airplane seats or coffee tables. With the external charging port, there’s no need to disturb your stored accessories or game cartridges; you just plug in and go. Alongside the new port, an LCD battery status display gives an at-a-glance view of remaining power, turning guesswork into certainty.

Belkin also took the opportunity to enhance the case’s everyday utility. The internal battery doubles as a built-in tabletop stand, so you can prop up your Switch 2 for hands-free gaming while it charges. Handy storage for game cards and even a hidden compartment for tracking devices like AirTags adds to the Pro model’s travel-friendly profile.

Priced at around $99.99, the Charging Case Pro costs roughly $30 more than the original model Belkin released in 2025. But for users who frequently play away from power outlets, the convenience of external charging and improved ergonomics might make that extra outlay worthwhile.

In a practical sense, Belkin’s new case doesn’t reinvent portable power — it simply revisits it with an eye toward ease of use, reducing small frictions that can matter a lot in daily life. For the gaming traveler, that means fewer fiddly moments and more uninterrupted playtime.
