Former Ukrainian President Yushchenko Writes Open Letter to Trump

Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko published an open letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, criticizing the easing of restrictions on Russian fuel exports. He argued that revenue from Russian energy trade helps finance Moscow’s war and said Ukraine should not be pressed to halt strikes on infrastructure supporting that effort. Yushchenko also invoked the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, under which Ukraine gave up its nuclear arsenal in exchange for security assurances. He urged Trump not to mistake Ukraine’s desire for peace for willingness to surrender.
